John Randall Bratby RA was an English painter who founded the kitchen sink realism style of art that was influential in the late 1950s. He made portraits of his family and celebrities. His works were seen in television and film. Bratby was also a writer.

Principal of West Dorset School of Art. A lifetime painter who for the last fifty years has focused on narrative painting. A studio painter working from imagination or inspired by past great narrative paintings or works of literature or song.  Hitchin's paintings reference T.S. Elliott, James Joyce and contemporary poets and songwriters.
